Barone Jazz Festival returns with two months of outstanding music under the summer sky

01.06.2026.

Following three outstanding seasons of exceptional jazz at Barone Fortress, we are continuing in the same spirit this summer. The fourth edition of the Barone Jazz Festival begins on 27 June and runs through the first days of September, bringing ten concerts by musicians who represent the very top of Croatia’s jazz scene. Over the course of more than two months, Barone will once again become a gathering place for music, summer evenings and audiences who return year after year for an atmosphere that is difficult to find anywhere else.

This year’s festival opens with Homage Collective, a Zagreb-based ensemble best known for its “Homage Collective plays…” concept, through which they reinterpret the work of renowned artists and present it to audiences in a fresh and distinctive way. The opening concert, Homage Collective plays Sade, pays tribute to one of the most iconic musical artists of recent decades. Depending on the project, the collective can bring together up to twenty musicians, making this opening performance one of the most ambitious and expansive in the festival’s history.

From large ensembles to intimate trios and quartets, Barone Jazz once again demonstrates that great jazz comes in many forms. July begins with the Borna Pehar Quartet (3 July), followed by Big Band Šibenik (12 July), Damirov Django Group (18 July) and the Darko Jurković Charlie Trio (24 July). August opens with the Levačić – Golob – Pavić Trio (6 August), followed by Mantes (14 August), Dina Rizvić (21 August) and Valerija Nikolovska (29 August). The festival season concludes in early September with Hojsak & Novosel featuring Vlatko Stefanovski on 4 September.

This year’s programme brings together some of the most accomplished names in Croatian jazz musicians who continue to push the boundaries of the genre, explore its possibilities and develop distinctive artistic voices of their own. As such, Barone Jazz offers no single definition of jazz. Instead, it reveals just how broad, dynamic and unpredictable the genre can be. From powerful large-scale arrangements and collective performances to the intimacy of trios and quartets, audiences will once again have the opportunity to experience jazz in its many forms.

Barone Jazz Festival marks the beginning of a season we always look forward to: evenings dedicated to music beneath the summer sky.
