Levačić-Golob-Pavić Trio
Levačić–Golob–Pavić Trio will perform at Barone Fortress as part of the Barone Jazz Festival on August 6. This is a new ensemble on the regional jazz scene, formed out of a sense of musical and personal closeness and a shared sensibility among the three musicians. Despite belonging to entirely different generations, this connection is evident from the very first note they play.
Drummer Kruno Levačić and double bassist Žiga Golob are legendary musicians in the region and close collaborators of Tamara Obrovac and Matija Dedić, as well as many others. Both are outstanding artists with broad interests and perspectives, which give them a unique ability to contribute creatively in any setting, whether in jazz, ethno music, pop, singer-songwriter music, avant-garde or poetry. Both Kruno and Žiga have remarkably rich careers, reflected in hundreds of recorded albums and thousands of performances.
Guitarist Filip Pavić arrived on the scene a decade later, particularly with the release of his debut album Terra Incognita in 2019. In that relatively short time, he has gained extensive experience performing with top musicians such as Matija Dedić, Saša Nestorović, Jim Rotondi and Renato Chicco, as well as appearing across Croatia and internationally in Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia.
The Levačić–Golob–Pavić Trio performs a combination of original music and their favorite singer-songwriter, pop and jazz songs. However, in art—and especially in jazz—the most important question is not “what,” but “how.” In the case of this trio, that “how” is lyrical and delicate, interactive and infused with humor, avoiding mere virtuosity and always searching for the essence of things.
