One of the most influential alternative rock bands of the past 30 years, Skunk Anansie, will perform on 19 July at St. Michael’s Fortress, further confirming Šibenik as one of the region’s most important summer concert destinations.
Formed in London in 1994, Skunk Anansie debuted on the music scene with the powerful single “Selling Jesus”, immediately attracting attention with their blend of alternative music, rock, and punk. They were the first multicultural band of the time, their lyrics addressed social and political themes, and with their charismatic vocalist Skin, Skunk Anansie became one of the most important and influential bands of their era.
Throughout their career, they have released numerous acclaimed albums, including Paranoid & Sunburnt, Stoosh, Post Orgasmic Chill and 25LIVE@2, as well as hit singles such as “Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good)”, “Selling Jesus”, “Twisted (Everyday Hurts)”, and “Weak.”
After a break in the early 2000s, the band triumphantly reunited in 2009 and has since continued to release new albums and perform as headliners at festivals across Europe. Their concerts on world tours are regularly sold out.
Their latest album, “The Painful Truth,” released in May last year, once again proved why Skunk Anansie — more than 30 years after their first performances — remain one of the most powerful and exciting bands in the world, both as musicians and live performers.
Media outlets such as The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph consistently praise their concerts, emphasizing that Skunk Anansie maintain a constant sharpness and immediacy in their musical expression. They highlight the band as a powerful rock icon, always visually and musically fresh.
With the already announced performances by Joss Stone and Chet Faker, Skunk Anansie joins the lineup of an exciting new concert season on the unique stage of St. Michael’s Fortress, where the fusion of music and ambience offers an unforgettable experience.
