Representatives of the Fortress of Culture Šibenik participated on 1–2 October 2025 in the international conference and project partner meeting of FORTIC project, held in Vieste, Italy.
During the two-day event, partners exchanged experiences and discussed the project’s progress at the working meeting and Steering Committee session held at Vieste City Hall, which included presentations on activity status and the financial overview of the project.
The second day of the conference featured an international event dedicated to business models of fortified cities and their adaptation through innovation, digital solutions, and sustainable tourism practices. Following the thematic presentations, partners participated in a sustainability workshop focused on the challenges and opportunities of sustainable tourism.

FORTIC is the acronym for “From remains Of the war to the aRchiTecture of peace in cross-border area of Italy-Croatia” – the full title of a cross-border cooperation project that promotes the valorisation of fortifications as spaces of peace and cooperation, encouraging cross-border exchange and sustainable development of cultural heritage. The project is co-financed under the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 programme.
The partnership consortium includes: City of Pula as Lead Partner, and partners Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, Public Cultural Institution Fortress of Culture Šibenik, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Municipality of Cervia, Municipality of Vieste, and City of Korčula.
