Wilco
Ten years after their last performance in Croatia, one of the most acclaimed rock bands of the independent music scene will once again take the stage in front of the local audience on 3 September.
The Chicago six-piece, led by the charismatic Jeff Tweedy, has been considered a pioneering force of alternative rock for three decades, with 13 studio albums and numerous accolades, including Grammy Awards. In addition to building an impressive discography, Wilco is also known for their outstanding live performances.
On this year’s tour, the band will present songs from two major catalogue reissues: expanded editions of the cult 2010 album The Whole Love and the 2004 album A Ghost Is Born. Alongside these retrospective favourites, the audience will also hear material from their more recent releases — the critically acclaimed studio album Cousin (2023) and EP Hot Sun Cool Shroud.
Band members Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche, Pat Sansone, Nels Cline, and Mikael Jorgensen are known not only for their musical productivity but also for founding their own record label and the prestigious Solid Sound Festival, placing them among the leading creative forces of the American music scene.
Even after more than 30 years of their career, Wilco remains a live powerhouse. Renowned music critics point out: “Seeing Wilco on stage means hearing the best of the best!” The local audience will be able to experience this firsthand on 3 September, when this magical rock ensemble of great American musicians takes the stage at St. Michael’s Fortress to show why they are considered one of the most impressive live bands in the world.
With this concert, Fortress of Culture Šibenik continues its series of announcements of exceptional artists enriching this year’s impressive summer concert season at the prestigious St. Michael’s Fortress stage.
