the horMoans - is that all there is & SAMIA

'the horMoans - is that all there is' (Beatriz Mira i Tiago Barreiros, Portugal)

Two inhabitants from a distant land enter a turkish bath. In this place, of supposed pleasure and healing, a succession of unexpected events awakens unknown responses in their body. Attempting to dominate something that's now theirs, they see themselves exposed to the particularities of the emotion and the desire of a life that wasn't their own. They walk, fall, shout, contort, touch, hide and discover the voice. The voice seems to have potency, is it real? And the body? Is it? Potency inebriates, makes remember, and forget. They lose themselves. In a cold expression of human loneliness, occupying the tangent between the comic and the tragic, the ice is broken, and the bath becomes an arena. Who's watching? The place took care of them. It's over.

Choreography & interpretation: Beatriz Mira i Tiago Barreiros

Music composition: João Caldas

SAMIA (Adriano Bolognino, Italy)

“Samia” begins with a true story, the one of Samia Yusuf Omar, the young Somali athlete who died in the waters of Lampedusa while trying to reach Europe to qualify for the Olympics. The choreographer's research started from this true story of a broken life and will be delivered to the public through six bodies, all different from each other, because in our present, despite our fight for it, we are still not all equal. This work presents a contribution to remembering Samia Yusuf Omar and those who, like her, struggle every day for their dream.

Choreographer: Adriano Bolognino

List of Performers: Rosaria Di Maro, Ines Giorgiutti, Cristina Roggerini, Roberta Fanzini, Noemi Caricchia and Laura Miotti.
