Kia ora Hrvatska 2025
As part of the major Croatian tour Kia ora Hrvatska 2025, one of the most unique cultural events of the summer will take place in Šibenik on Monday, July 7 at 9 PM! The King Tomislav Folklore Ensemble from Auckland, which has been active for over three decades under the Croatian Cultural Society in New Zealand, will perform at Barone Fortress, joined by exceptional guest artists – Māori performers and a vocal quartet from the Pacific Islands.
The tour marks a significant anniversary – 1100 years of the Croatian Kingdom, commemorating the coronation of the first Croatian king, Tomislav, in 925. Nearly 50 performers will take the stage in Šibenik for a 70-minute program blending Croatian traditional music, Polynesian vocal harmonies, and Māori dance heritage – creating a truly unforgettable musical and scenic experience.
The program is led by artistic director Goran Kačurov, former conductor of the renowned LADO ensemble, alongside guests from the Māori Kapa Haka group Te Roopu Manutaki and vocal quartet The Shades, celebrated for their powerful gospel and soul performances. Musicians from Croatia will also join them on stage, further highlighting the cultural connection between the homeland and the most distant Croatian diaspora.
Kia ora Hrvatska 2025 is not just a concert – it is a powerful message of unity, cultural preservation, and intergenerational connection among Croats around the world. The tour is followed by New Zealand media and officials and is held under the patronage of the Central State Office for Croats Abroad, the Ministry of Demography and Immigration, the Croatian Heritage Foundation, and the host cities.
