Kings of Convenience
After 12 years since their last release, Kings of Convenience are returning to world stages with a new album, and the perfect end-of-summer concert will be held at the St. Michael's Fortress in Šibenik, September 16, 2022. This Norwegian indie folk-pop duo, who are often compared to Simon and Garfunkel, on one of the most beautiful open-air stages in the Adriatic, will bring exactly what we all miss this year; optimism, romance and relaxation.
"Peace or Love", the fourth studio album by Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye, was released last May exactly on the 20th anniversary of the first album, "Quiet is the New Loud", and 12 years after their last album, "Declaration of Dependence". Recorded in five different cities over a period of five years, the album sounds as fresh as spring: 11 songs about life and love - with the captivating beauty, purity and emotional clarity one would expect from the Kings of Convenience. Yet the new 11 songs have the emotional depth and hard-earned wisdom that comes with age. Erlend lost both his parents in the years since his last album, and Eirika's 21-year marriage ended. "Peace or Love" is the sound of two old friends exploring the last phase of their lives together and finding new ways to capture that elusive magic.
Eirik and Erlend have been friends since childhood and first performed together in the rock band Skog before forming a duo in 1999. Their 2001 debut “Quiet Is The New Loud” made them the unwitting pioneers of a new wave of intimate, acoustic music. After that, they released "Riot on an Empty Street" in 2004, and "Declaration of Dependence" in 2009, and they received excellent reviews for all their previous albums.
Their pleasant music combined with relaxed appearance on stage and the perfect setting of Šibenik's Fortress of St. Mihovila is an ideal date for the end of summer.
