Announcment: Fortress ReInvented

INNOVATIVE APPROACH AND DIGITAL CONTENTS IN HISTORICAL FORTIFICATION MONUMENTS

Masterpiece of digital technology - 3D mapping meets storytelling

Experience a 1000 years of defeats and victories in the heart of the fortress - underground watertanks.

The content will be available at the begining of the 2020.

Two underground water tanks dating back to 15th century have been hidden in the St. Michael's Fortresses core for a long time. Today, on their walls the legend of the city's origin is revived and turbulent history of the fortress presented.

The audiovisual masterpiece utilizes state-of-the-art technical equipment needed to project content onto walls and floors of watertanks.

In addition to 34 projectors that create the image, 16 speakers are also set up to create a sonic backdrop for a complete virtual space experience.

FORTRESS AND TOWN, TOWN AND FORTRESS

One of the water tanks takes you to the center of the timeless battle between good and evil, represented in the Christian tradition by the victory of St. Michael over the dragon. The winged archangel was probably patron saint of the town from the very beginning. The second water tank is essentially a time machine that tells the story of the creation and expansion of Šibenik, from the hill dedicated to St Michael to the shore. The story takes us to the darkest period in towns history - 17th century and the the golden age of the Renaissance.

THE WITNESSES OF HISTORY

Ancient events leave their mark in stories, historic records, and everyday objects. In the breaks between the main projections, a multimedia exhibition of these material witnesses - archaeological finds from the Illyrian age until today, including reconstructed remains of ceramic bowls and oil lamps, pipes and coins, that testify to the continuity of this site use for several millennia.
